By downloading, installing, or using the Chequered app ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, an agreement between you and us, the operator of the App ("we", "us", or "our"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App, and the App is not directed at children under 13. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Chequered is a Formula 1 companion app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. It provides race schedules, live session timing and alerts, push notifications, home screen and lock screen widgets, a Mac menu bar agent, and Apple Watch complications, drawing on information sourced from publicly available F1 data. The App connects to our backend servers and application programming interface (the "API"), which deliver this data to the App. The App, the API, and the data they make available are referred to together as "the Service." The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Formula 1, the FIA, or any F1 team.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, and revocable license to install and use the App and access the data it provides, solely for your own personal, non-commercial use and only through the App. We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you.
You agree to use the Service only for its intended, lawful purpose and in accordance with these Terms. You must not, and must not help anyone else to:
The API exists only to support the official App. Any access to the API, or to the data it returns, other than through the App in normal use is unauthorized. The data made available through the Service is for your personal, informational use within the App only; you gain no ownership of it and no right to extract, redistribute, or commercialize it or any database derived from it.
We may monitor use of the Service, and we reserve the right, without notice, to set usage limits, rate-limit requests, and restrict, block, or terminate access that violates these Terms, as well as to pursue any available legal remedies. The restrictions in Sections 5 and 6 survive any termination.
We offer an optional, auto-renewable subscription that unlocks premium features; the App's other features remain free to use. A single subscription applies across all supported Apple platforms through Apple's Universal Purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and your subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. All payments, renewals, and any refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's terms and policies; prices may vary by region and may change with notice.
The App, its design, code, and original content are owned by us. Formula 1 data, team names, driver names, and related trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for informational purposes only.
The App may send push notifications for race events, session alerts, and other F1-related updates. You can manage notification preferences within the App or through your device settings at any time.
We strive to provide accurate and timely information, but we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data presented in the App. Race data is sourced from third-party providers and may contain errors or delays. Some content, such as race summaries, may be generated automatically, including by AI, and may contain inaccuracies. The App is provided on an "as is" basis.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and the App's developers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App, for providing support for it, or for any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in New York County, New York will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section deprives you of any mandatory consumer protections under the law of your place of residence.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
